I grew up in Birmingham but escaped to Pembrokeshire for the summers where I was surrounded by herds of dairy cows and flocks of mountain sheep. I now live on top of Rodborough Common in Gloucestershire amongst the roaming cattle. My work is inspired by all these animals.
At about three my father helped me make my first thumb pot mug, which I still use, and I have loved working with clay ever since. I did a Biology degree at Exeter University and then went on to become a solicitor but realised that this was not the career for me. When asked at an appraisal,10 years ago, where I saw myself in 5 years’ time I said Potter or District Judge. I think that I made the right choice.
My work is mainly hand built and fired nearly exclusively using the Raku process.
